Meet The Team Members

Ruby Devine
Owner/Stylist/International Educator
Ruby Devine has been in the beauty industry since 2000. Some of Ruby's most notable and recent accomplishments include traveling internationally representing herself as an independent educator and now representing one of the industry's leading color lines.
Now as the proud owner of The LABoratory, she leads her team of stylists daily to help bring the ultimate beauty services and experiences to the DMV area.
The LABoratory is considered an "all around" service salon. We take on clients ranging from ages 4-84. Ruby Devine and her team specialize in dynamic color services such as blonding, balayage, and fashion color.
Josselyn Silva
Level 3 Stylist
Josselyn Silva is a DMV native raised in Arlington VA. She has been a part of the beauty industry since 2014. She is passionate, creative and focused! She loves blonding, balayage, and a variety of fashion color techniques as well as the challenges of corrective color. She especially loves when hair looks natural and seamless all the while looking effortlessly "lived in". The other part that is so dear to her is the opportunity to make connections with clients. Being able to bring their desires to fruition is her real joy. The creative freedom, challenge and the fact that there is always room for improvement is the other parts she enjoys so much about this dynamic industry.
As a member of the team at The LAB, she gets to explore all of these facets and grow daily ensuring that her daily work is fulfilling and rewarding not only to her, but to all of her loving an loyal clients.


Alexis Olerta
Level 3 stylist , operations manager and in house education coordinator
Alexis Hall has been in the beauty industry almost all of her life. First assisting as a little girl in her grandmothers salon, her love for hair and salon relationships grew.
A native of VA from Springfield, Alexis has been working in the industry since 2015. Within those years she's already traveled the world helping put on shows with product lines like Antidot pro, Malibu C and Pulp Riot.
She really enjoys creating colorful fashion colors and dimensional blondes. Her favorite thing about working at The LAB is being around such creative and talented people that she can bounce ideas off of.
Molly Genovese
Level 2 Stylist
Molly is new to the DMV by way of Massachusetts. She's been a licensed stylist since 2011 and has a BA in business administration.
Molly is an American Board Certified Hair Colorist. She enjoys staying up to date with all hair color and cutting trends for all textures and has a special passion for balayage and lived-in looks that help enhance someone's natural hue.
As the newest member to the team at the LABoratory, she brings over a decade of experience. She's excited to develop a new clientele and provide high quality services to everyone that comes in.


Sofia Alzerecca
Level 1 Stylist
Sofia is a DMV native who's been in the hair industry since 2016. She knew as soon as soon as she finished high school that she wanted to go into cosmetology. Sofia found home within the industry and has been loving and learning every step of the way. Her passions include haircutting and color ranging from traditional color works to transformative blonding, balayage and fashion colors. She especially loves creating a personalized journey for any of your hair goals, in color, health, and ideal cut for the cherry on top of your new look.
April Fernandez
Intern Stylist
April is a DMV native raised in Arlington, VA. New to the beauty industry since 2019. A Paul Mitchell the school Alumni, on her way to pursuing her career to be a stylist at The LABoratory. One of her biggest achievements was succeeding with her cosmetology program through the trials of the pandemic. She has a passion for art and creativity. Her inspiration to become a hairstylist came from her artistic and creative side. She loves to draw, paint, and do a lot of artsy things so she believed to show that side of her through doing hair. Though the canvas may be different she would still be able to express that side of her which she is very passionate about.
April is always eager to learn and gain as much knowledge on the hair/ beauty industry where she can advance in her career. She loves to make people feel and look their best and embrace their beauty. Making personal connections with clients is one of the traits she loves and believes to be important. She would love to become a color specialist and educator in the future and is actively working towards that goal.


Lauren Ibanez
Intern Stylist
Lauren Ibanez is a DMV native born and raised in Fairfax VA. She has been part of the beauty industry since 2018 working her first job as a shampoo tech. This is where her love of the beauty industry started. She has a passion for color and making our clients feel beautiful. Now an Intern stylist at The LAB, she's continuing her journey of learning and building her clientele.
Sonya Keefer
Assistant/ salon coordinator
Sonya Keefer has a passion for helping people and has been working in the industry for three years. Currently serving as an Assistant and salon coordinator, she is dedicated the care of the salon and our clients. Sonya's friendly and approachable nature allows her to connect with clients, and her love for movies adds a delightful touch to appointments. Committed to making every client feel beautiful inside and out, she creates a comfortable and enjoyable experience while providing support and laughter. Sonya's ultimate goal is to leave a positive impact on our clients' day, enhancing their confidence and well-being.


MyQueen Ross
Assistant
MyQueen is a Paul Mitchell the school alumni . MyQueen got her certificates in honors for color, cutting, and texture while she attended Paul Mitchell. She has a passion for all things fashion and beauty. She is on the journey to continuing her education and experience while working along side everyone at The LAB.
Sarah Fox
Assistant
Sarah is currently completing her cosmetology program at Paul Mitchell while also learning advanced techniques and education working at The LAB. She loves all things music and can be seen styling hair at festivals. She is growing her skills and clientele already even before graduating school.

Please Note: all services are subject to change based off the length, density, and difficulty of the desired end result.
***A 48 hour notice is required to change or cancel an appointment. Failure to do so will result in a charge equal to half the amount of the starting price of scheduled appointment.
***All services are a la carte, meaning chemical and conditioning services do not include blowout/styled finishes.
***Please disclose if length, density or texture may require extra time to complete service.
*** Please do not bring companions or children to a service if they're not receiving a service. Any additional guest that arrive without an appointment will be asked to wait outside of studio, or your service will be rescheduled for a later date and be subject to our late cancel charge. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Gloss/Toner
stand alone service
This is perfect to add shine or tone out unwanted hues typically for blondes and balayage, but also great to add richness and shine to any color canvas
T-zone color retouch
Retouching the first inch or less of new growth around the front of the hairline and down your part line to give you more time in between your color services. (Think “T” shaped subsection of hair)
Root retouch
Coloring from scalp to one inch or less out covering only new growth
Full color
One shade of color applied from scalp to ends of hair
Full Bleach (blonde/platinum)

This is for our full blonde or "bleach and tone" clients.
Bleach retouch
**Consult required
This is for all full blonde retouches ( retouching only the first inch or less of new growth). This is for clients with not more than 4-6 weeks of new growth. More than that is considered a "color correction"
"Money piece"
This is a perfect "in between" service for all of our dynamic blondes and balayage clients. This is to give that pop of lightness back around the face.
"Halo highlight"
Perfect for those looking for a little Devine Intervention. This highlight service sits between a "money piece" service and a "partial highlight" in terms of coverage and is ideal for in between balayage or babylight service.
Partial highlight/lowlight
Traditional partial foil highlight or lowlight placement. Outlining the whole hairline and the "mohawk" section
Full highlight/lowlight
A full head of foiled highlights or lowlights to add dimension to the hair
Partial balayage or balayage retouch
Hand painted highlights within the interior or the hair from the bottom of the crown and up to the front hairline
Full balayage
A full head of hand painted highlights. Balayage is designed to give not more than 2-4 levels of lift and a gradient highlighted effect.
Partial Babylight
perfect for those in-between full baby light or to break up the new growth on a balayage but maintain optimum blonde tone
Full babylight
Full head of tightly weaved foiled highlights to give the ultimate blonde with minimum dimension.
"The Full Monty" Babylights/balayage/highlight/shadow root and tone
**Consult required
This is blonding service uses 4 different techniques all wrapped up in one to create the most optimal blonde with slight dimension (Think Pinterest bonding)
Fashion color

Fashion color appointments apply to those who want any color of the rainbow that doesn't occur naturally in hair color. This does NOT include color corrective fashion color (going from one side of the color wheel to the other) or those wanting silver, grey or pastels (those requiring blonding of more than 4 levels lighter would be categorized as "corrective color") .
***NOTE: Fashion color MUST be done on pre lightened ("bleached") hair. Price increase for intricate placement or multiple color melting
Fashion color touchup
**Consult required
Fashion color touch up appointments apply to those who want any color not occurring in natural hair colors. Wanting to just reapply over what is already existing canvas and within the same color family, etc. Pinks-purples, blues-greens, oranges-reds. This service does NOT include relightening your new growth
Underlights
Fashion color that lives in the interior of the hair making it concealable and convertible.
